Maureen Denise McCormick is the daughter and youngest child of Richard McCormick. She was born August 5, 1956, in Woodland Hills California. Her family consisted of a mother who was a housewife and a father who taught. Michael Dennis, Kevin and Dennis are her three oldest brothers. From a young age McCormick was a singer as well as dance. She would also present puppet shows to the neighborhood children. When she was just six, McCormick was crowned her first prize in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley competition. Pat Domigan from the Jack Wormser Agency then called her and asked whether the actress was looking to pursue a career in showbusiness. McCormick was commissioned to perform in her first big role in 1964 in a tv commercial for Mattels most recent doll, Baby Pattaburp. Later that year she did another commercial with the company's Chatty Cathy doll and was soon cast in the play The Wind It up until It breaks at the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick won a 1969 audition from 1,200 youngsters to be the oldest of the three twin daughters in The Brady Bunch TV program The Brady Bunch, starring Florence Henderson as a newlywed with Robert Reed. The show lasted five years. McCormick said in her 2008 memoir Heres the Story : Surviving Marcia Brady & Finding My True Voice she almost lost her virginity during the fifth season in the presence of Barry Williams, her co-star and on-screen brother. The time was when she was 16, and he was 19. She said that it would have been possible, but we never had the right time to do it.
